Reports circulated in social media states that hotels in Langkawi had received a total of 1,000 bookings within an hour.
The bookings were made minutes after Prime Minister declared that interstate traveling are allowed effective 10th June 2020.
This could a good sign for Malaysian tourism industry after the major downturn in our economy since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chief Executive of Langkawi Tourism had mentioned in his speech that they are targeting for a total of one million domestic tourists by end of December.
However, he also added that they’re still unclear with availability facilities that can be offered to the tourists as he feels that the Prime Minister didn’t elaborate further on it during his live conference at 3 pm earlier.
The Chief Executive will meeting the Malaysian Tourism Minister in order to get better clarifications on the tourism procedures and available facilities.
Apart from that, he also added that the cable car service and Langkawi theme park will not be opened to the public’s for time being.
